Turf cutting marks start on new Devonshire Homes development at Landkey

Representatives from HGP and Devonshire Homes cut the first patch of turf at the site. The traditional ceremony, known as the ‘turf cutting’, is held to mark the formal start of building works. 

The new development at Mazzard View will deliver 77 new homes, with the accommodation ranging from starter homes to executive properties. Mazzard View is located off Birch Road in Landkey, close to local village amenities and easily accessible from the A361.

Detailed planning permission was granted by North Devon District Council to Devonshire Homes for a residential scheme offering a mix of two, three, four and five bedroom homes and includes an affordable homes contribution. 

Jane Pearce, Devonshire Homes’ Sales and Marketing Director, said: “This ground- breaking ceremony is an important step in helping us provide sought-after homes in Landkey; it marks the start of construction on the site and so this new homes development is now officially underway!  We’re excited to be back building in Landkey again following the success of our Loring Fields development and it won’t be long before we’re welcoming people into their new homes here at Mazzard View.  Our marketing suite will open on 5th August when we will release the first set of homes for sale”. 

Devonshire Homes are working with HGP, who are an investor in the development. HGP are a social impact investor, backed by Lloyds Bank and the Homes and Communities Agency, who provide support to regional residential developers to enable sustainable growth of their businesses and increase the number of new homes constructed in the UK.

Contributions from the development will also be made through the Section 106 Agreement which include: £429,391 towards education and £200,000 towards bus service 155.
