Suzy and Toni
30 June 2021Since its 2020 launch, Devonshire Homes has enjoyed a string of reservations at its popular Bovey Tracey site, Longston Cross. For the very first homeowners who moved into a property at this busy site, it was Devonshire Homes’ high-quality build that sealed the deal.
At the start of their house hunting journey, Suzy, 26, and Toni, 27, weren’t sure if a new build home was for them. “We sold our property in Kingsteignton and were looking around the local area to see what we could purchase” said Suzy. “We had heard of Longston Cross before, but we weren’t 100% sure if a new build home was for us so I did some research online and we visited a few sites by different housebuilders. Devonshire Homes came out on top with a lot of positive customer reviews and the quality really stood out to us when we visited.”
Working at trade supplier Screwfix, Suzy knows which brands are top notch and which are mediocre. “Homes on other new build sites looked nice but I could tell that they hadn’t used the best brands and finished them to the highest of standards. Other housebuilders offered a good-sized kitchen / dining area but really compromised on the size of the lounge. When we visited Longston Cross, we could see they were using all of the top brands that I personally really rate and everything was finished to the highest of standards, including the electrics and plumbing.”
After meeting with the Sales Executives, Suzy and Toni reserved their Bovey Tracey home, a three bedroom Hartland house style which ticked everything on the couple’s wish list.
“We wanted a three bedroom property which featured good-sized rooms and had plenty of space” said Suzy. “Our home has everything we were looking for. Our particular plot has a south facing garden and is a great size. The master bedroom is spacious and has a handy en-suite shower room and fitted wardrobes which were included within the price. The Hartland style doesn’t compromise on size anywhere. Even though we have a living / dining area, you don’t have to have a table in the living room as the kitchen has enough space to fit a small table.”
When asked what they are particularly loving about their new home, Suzy and Toni found it hard to pick just one aspect.
“I really love the garden” said Toni. “Being a south facing plot, our garden enjoys the sun all day long which will be great in the summer. It’s all the little things that I really like about the Hartland house. We have one parking space in the garage but the garage is massive so we can easily fit our car in there and still have plenty of storage space. We then have another parking space in front of the garage on a drive which is great for guests.”
“The kitchen and the bathrooms are lovely because of the quality of the tiles, fixtures and fittings” added Suzy. “As we reserved our house quite late in the build stage, the tiles had already been fitted but Devonshire Homes chose really nice tiles which go with any bathroom interior and are timeless.”
Longston Cross is a collection of two, three, four and five bedroom homes located on the edge of Bovey Tracey, conveniently close to the major commuter routes of the A38 and M5. Having previously lived only 10 minutes away from the ‘Gateway to the Moor’, Suzy and Toni already knew the area well.
“Bovey Tracey is such a nice area” said Suzy. “It’s full of pretty walks and the town has every amenity you can think of. You’ve got restaurants, cafes and local convenience stores. Our home is close enough for us to walk into the town centre and have a drink at the local pub or have a meal out and then be able to walk home again. For us, that was a real draw.”
Throughout Suzy and Toni’s house buying journey, Devonshire Homes ensured that they were there every step of the way to make the move as stress-free as possible. It was their attention to detail, flexibility and good contacts that really stood out for Suzy.
“The Sales Executives were so helpful and accommodating when it came to our budget and situation. We had a buyer for our existing property who was ready to move in, so we had to find somewhere quickly to avoid moving into rented accommodation. The team at Devonshire Homes were really accommodating and went that extra mile for us which took the stress off our shoulders. They also recommended a great Financial Advisor called Linda who was brilliant. They didn’t pressurise us into using Linda, but we did, and she was so helpful and her prices were reasonable. Throughout the journey, the team were responsive and kept us updated with everything that was going on with our home. They even let us visit our house another three times before we actually moved in! Any questions we had, they were quick to respond and they had the right type of sales approach. We didn’t feel pressurised at all but instead, felt really well looked after.”
As they approach their first anniversary in their new home at Longston Cross, Suzy and Toni wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the independent West Country house builder to others.
“I would definitely recommend Devonshire Homes and I feel like they have already built up a good reputation in the region” said Suzy. “Some of my friends can be quite sceptical about new build homes so when I announced that I was buying one, I said it’s fine because it’s Devonshire Homes! And instantly, I could tell they took that to mean that it will be a good-quality home. The customer service was top notch, and the quality of the house is excellent. Through my job, I already knew some of the tradesman who have worked at Devonshire Homes sites and they too also rated the housebuilder.”
Longston Cross currently has two, three and four bedroom homes for sale starting from £234,950. Visits to the show home and Marketing Suite are by appointment only. To book, please call 01626 572257 or email longstoncross@devonshirehomes.co.uk.
