School Visit To The Grange Bideford

Bideford school children get a lesson in safety and home building at The Grange

29 November 2023

Year Six pupils from St Mary's C of E Primary School became VIP visitors for the day at a popular new build homes development, as part of a school project.

Devonshire Homes hosted 60 children from the local primary school to its popular Bideford development, The Grange. Launched in 2022, The Grange is a collection of two, three, four and five bedroom homes located off Manteo Way.

Ten and eleven year olds from the nearby primary school were taken on a tour of the development by Site Manager Adam Bishop learnt how new homes are built, how and why Devonshire Homes’ properties are energy efficient and why new build homes are needed in Bideford.

The children also got the opportunity to see construction in progress, as well as look inside the two show homes onsite.

In addition to exploring how important energy efficient homes are in protecting the local environment, the students also learnt how to be safe around construction sites. Adam highlighted the dangers of using sites as playgrounds and why there are specific measures in place. Back at school, the two Year Six classes participated in a competition to draw their perfect bedroom, with the lucky winner soon to be announced.

Michelle Mead and Abbie Brailey, Year Six teachers at St Mary's C of E Primary School commented:

“We want to say a huge thank you to the Devonshire Homes team for welcoming our Year Six classes to The Grange. The children thoroughly enjoyed seeing a working construction site and were amazed by the beautiful show homes. What they learnt from the visit has supported and expanded on what we have been learning in our lessons.”

Sarah Hall, Sales Manager for Devonshire Homes commented:

“We were more than happy to welcome the children of St Mary's C of E Primary School to The Grange. It’s important to us that the next generation of the local community understand why we build new homes and how we incorporate energy efficient elements to protect the environment for their future. The children seemed to enjoy their visit and really took on board the importance of safety on construction sites and we had lots of great questions from them about how homes are built.”

Sarah continued:

“We welcome families on our developments and at The Grange, we have a beautiful range of family homes available with special offers on some house styles. We would urge anyone who is interested to know more to pop into the Marketing Suite and speak to our Sales Executives.”

Currently, there are three, four and five bedroom homes available to reserve at The Grange, with prices starting from £289,950.
