Charity Golf Day 25

£7,114 raised for Mid Devon housing charity at Devonshire Homes’ popular Golf Day

7 August 2025

Independent West Country housebuilder Devonshire Homes has raised over £7,100 for its Charity of the Year, Churches Housing Action Team (CHAT).

Devonshire Homes welcomed guests from across the housing and construction industry to Trethorne Golf Club in Launceston for its biennial Charity Golf Day. Teams of four took to the green in high spirits, with a total of 22 teams attending to support Devonshire Homes in raising vital funds for CHAT. The day consisted of 18-holes and a range of competitions including the longest drive, nearest the pin, island target and beat Devonshire Homes’ Jonny. The prestigious Devonshire Homes Charity Golf Day trophy was won by the team representing MJL Groundworks.

The day was followed by an auction and raffle which raised further funds for CHAT. Golfers got behind the charity and made their mark at the auction. Prizes included a helicopter flight, rounds of golf at prestigious courses, high-tech speaker system and a family day leisure pass at Trethorne Golf Club.

Devonshire Homes has been supporting CHAT since 2024 with £50 from every open market sale going to the charity. Based in Tiverton, CHAT provides support to people who are experiencing housing difficulties in Mid Devon. The experienced team offer free advice on housing, debt and money, in addition to offering practical support from their own foodbank. Their vision is for no one in Mid Devon to be homeless or hungry, and funds raised from Devonshire Homes’ Charity Golf Day will help them on the way to achieving that goal.

Clive Williams, Chair of Trustees at CHAT, commented:

“Devonshire Homes hosted a wonderful event that raised a fantastic amount for CHAT. It was great to get out on the green with the teams and have the opportunity later on to address the room and share how we help some of the most vulnerable people in Mid Devon stay away from homelessness. The donation will ensure we can continue to provide care for those that are most vulnerable. Thank you to everyone who attended the Golf Day and for your generous support.”

Angus Cook, Managing Director at Devonshire Homes, commented: “We are thrilled that once again, our Charity Golf Day was a great success. We have been holding this event biennially since 2018 and every time we host the Golf Day, it seems to get more and more support, ensuring we raise as much as we can for our Charity of the Year. Its reputation precedes it and so many of our industry connections wanted to be involved this year, actively showing their support for a fantastic local charity.”

Angus continued: “We’d like to say a big thank you to all who attended and supported our Charity Golf Day. This was the first time we have hosted the event in Cornwall and Trethorne Golf Club were excellent hosts, running the day seamlessly for us. We look forward to hosting our next Charity Golf Day in the summer of 2027.”

Devonshire Homes has raised funds throughout the year for CHAT through the sales of Devonshire Homes’ new build homes. For every open market house sold, Devonshire Homes donates £50 to CHAT. The staff at Devonshire Homes have also shown their support by hosting and taking part in a variety of fundraising events.
