18 November 2020Buying your very first house as a couple is a huge milestone and one that first time buyers Andy and Nadine don’t regret at all now that they are living at Devonshire Homes’ Ladywell Meadows in Chulmleigh.
After sustaining a long-distance relationship, travelling up and down the motorway for four years, Andy and Nadine decided to rent a home in Winkleigh before purchasing a house together.
“I was already based in Devon, but Andy moved from Kingston upon Hull in 2014” said Nadine. “We rented a home in Winkleigh for five years before we moved to Chulmleigh as we wanted to be sure that living together permanently would work before we really committed!”
After Nadine’s hairdresser mentioned that Devonshire Homes were building in Chulmleigh, the couple visited the site to have a look around. “We spoke to Margaret, the Sales Executive at Ladywell Meadows, to find out more” said Nadine. “She was so helpful and provided us with all the information we needed to ensure we were able to go away and consider our options.”
Moving into their three bedroom Webb house style a few months ago, it was the generous size of the garden that really stood out for the couple. “We both fell in love with the size of the garden when we looked at the plan with Margaret” said Andy. “When we were able to see it completed, we knew we had made the right decision purchasing our particular plot.”

“We love the light, bright, airy feel to our home” said Nadine. “It is tucked away in a private parking area and having three bedrooms means it’s large enough for us to start a family without having to move again. Although there are over 90 homes on the estate, it does not feel as though we are overlooked or crammed in to a small area. It is a modern estate with an open plan feel. What’s best of all is that we get the most amazing sunsets!”
With the couple having family in the area, Nadine and Andy always dreamt of being able to purchase a new home in Chulmleigh.
“Ladywell Meadows is on the edge of Chulmleigh so we have the best of both worlds” said Andy. “The wonderful amenities and recreational grounds that Chulmleigh offers are easily accessible but it’s nice not to be right in the centre of the hustle and bustle.”
Throughout Andy and Nadine’s house buying journey, Devonshire Homes ensured they were there every step of the way to make the move as stress-free as possible.
“Devonshire Homes made purchasing our home a great experience” smiled Nadine. “We received a home demonstration from James, the Site Manager, to ensure we were happy with how all the appliances worked. We were able to put any questions we had about the build to him and he was very understanding of our needs. On moving day, our Sales Executive, Margaret, went through our welcome pack and ensured the handover of the keys went smoothly before taking us around our new home. Inside, we discovered a beautiful hamper full of local produce which was a lovely surprise and definitely needed after moving day!”

“Following our move, we have been in contact with Jodie, the Customer Services Manager” said Nadine. “She has been extremely efficient and accommodating of any questions or queries we have had since moving in.”
