LAND MANAGER

Due to continued expansion Devonshire Homes are seeking to recruit an additional Land Manager. This is a full time position and will report directly to the Managing Director

This role is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial Land Manager to join an established company as it embarks on its ambitious growth plans. Working in a small, dynamic team, this role will offer exposure to the Board and offers a real chance to help steer the company to achieve its goals.

Your role will be to identify and acquire suitable new development and land opportunities through networking and establishing market contacts. You will feed into the acquisition strategy, due diligence processes and land bids.

In this role you will be a key member of the land team to source land sites and progress the site from pre-acquisition through to post planning and handing the site over to our Technical, Procurement, Production and Sales teams.

You will be expected to be well versed in the strategies required for successful development; from identifying and acquiring sites, developing and optimising layouts and designs to maximise value, identifying and mitigating risks, achieving planning permissions and delivering a comprehensive handover to our department teams.

As Land Manager you will have responsibilities for the delivery of proposed site planning permissions. You will be involved in the appointment and management of a professional team of architects, engineers, environmental, ecological and planning consultants to ensure that when our planning submissions are made all of their inputs are accurate, feasible and will achieve a successful granting of planning.

You will be expected to monitor the progress of the planning process, responding to consultee comments and liaising closely with our in house Planner.

Candidate Profile:

  • Extensive experience of the pre-development and planning stages, including acquisition, planning and delivery on site, as well as an understanding of the wider development lifecycle comprising sales, marketing and customer care.
  • Design flair. Able to interrogate design proposals and understand what makes for good design and effective place making. Our developments are our legacy and should instill pride in our team and Board.
  • Demonstrable experience in coordinating internal and managing external teams and delivering planning permissions.
  • Motivated and driven to succeed and to be part of a team striving to achieve the company’s goals.
  • Superb communication and people skills are essential, a significant part of the role will involve building and managing relationships with colleagues, senior management and external contacts.
  • Likely to be currently or have previously worked for small to medium housing developer in a similar role and/or perhaps gained experience as a planning officer or RICS qualified through the Planning & Development pathway.
  • Will need to demonstrate a proven track record of generating opportunities, successfully taking the opportunity through land purchase, planning and ready for site start.
  • Able to work independently at times handling daily responsibilities with minimal supervision.


Responsibilities

  • To identify and acquire suitable development opportunities and maximise our bidding success.
  • Appointment and coordination of professional consultant teams to optimise site value, good design and successful planning submissions.
  • Identifying and mitigating risks at pre-production stages.
  • Dealing with pre-commencement planning conditions.
  • Assisting with the Coordination of handover of the development information to our technical, procurement, production and sales teams.
  • You should have good drive and determination for continued improvement and an enthusiasm and pride in their contribution to deliver the highest quality Devonshire Home possible.

Although based at our Tiverton office you will be required to travel as required throughout the South West in order to fulfil this role and therefore a full driving licence is essential.
