House-building starts on Rivel’s Green at Cullompton Nursery site

6 April 2016

The sale of thirty homes to a housing association has been confirmed just days after diggers moved on to the site of the former Cummings Nursery at Cullompton in the first phase of building 100 new homes.

The Spectrum Housing Group have exchanged and completed on the houses, 8 of which are to be built this year by Tiverton house builder Devonshire Homes. Mid Devon District Council planning committee approved the application last September, applauding the developer for the way they had responded to the comments raised by local residents. Since then the large derelict glasshouses left from the nursery business have been demolished.

The development, which has been named Rivel’s Green, will have one bedroom apartments plus two, three and four bedroom houses. In total there will be 100 homes, including the 30 affordable properties bought by Spectrum.

“We have been working with Spectrum on this site for many months,”

said Devonshire Homes Managing Director Steve Russell.

“We are delighted that, as construction begins, they have completed the purchase of the 30 houses that will provide much needed homes for local people.”

Devonshire Homes is receiving expressions of interest from prospective purchasers. For more information contact mail@devonshirehomes.co.uk
