Interior design trends of 2019 that you don't want to miss
7 June 2019Handover day is such an exciting time for Devonshire Homes customers. They finally have their hands on the keys to their new home and can’t wait to make it their own. That’s the fun bit after all! All those months of pinning interior images on Pinterest, scrolling through new home accounts on Instagram and flicking through glossy magazines will finally be worth it. Looking to stay on top of this year’s trends? Here, we reveal the latest interior design trends for 2019:
Go Au Naturel
We are seeing an abundance of natural elements inside new homes this year. Materials such as stone, copper, concrete and granite emit a peaceful energy and by harnessing them, you can create your very own oasis behind your front door. The kitchen is the perfect place to experiment. Try adding small touches like a copper kettle or granite coasters to create that natural feel. You could also bring the outside in by introducing house plants into your home. Not only do they look beautiful, they are also good for your health as they improve the air quality.
Velvet Furnishings
There’s something about velvet that just makes us go all warm and fuzzy inside. Not only does it feel luxuriously smooth, it also has the ability to soften any room. Throughout 2019 so far, we have spotted many velvet furnishings inside homes, particularly in the form of sofas and armchairs. Embrace this trend by adding a chic armchair into your living room or a velvet bed spread and Chaise Loungue in your master bedroom. Velvet will add a touch of elegance and class without going too over the top.
Soften up with feminine tones
Blush pink, bronze and brilliant whites are a common trend in 2019. These feminine tones can add light to a room and break up neutrals. They add a splash of colour without being too bold. For some inspiration, check out one of our favourite Instagram accounts, New Build To Home. Jo has got rose gold and blush pink nailed!
Embrace floral walls
This trend couldn’t be more fitting for summer time. Floral patterns are making a comeback in 2019, particularly within wallpaper. Florals work well in bedrooms and living rooms, adding a touch of elegant decoration to a neutral space. There are many great wallpaper suppliers out there but if you’re arty, you could even create your very own bespoke flower mural.
Sleep like a Royal
Think you’re a Prince or a Princess? Then sleep like one! Four poster beds will be everywhere in 2019 and are perfect if you like to feel cosy and safe at night. With their grand pillars, four poster beds enclose you just like a hug would, sending you off into a sound sleep. They don’t have to take up too much space either! If you’re looking for some inspiration, visit our show home at our North Devon site, Mazzard View. You will discover a beautiful four poster bed inside the luxury master bedroom.
