First time buyers can reserve this new three bedroom townhouse with the Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme

1 February 2021

As 2021 sees the changes to the Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme come into effect, a local independent house builder is encouraging first time buyers to consider its three bedroom homes in Crediton.

The Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme can be used to reserve a new three bedroom townhouse at Devonshire Homes’ popular Crediton site, Tarka View, subject to eligibility, terms and conditions. A number of changes to the scheme have been made this year, but the good news is that first time buyers can still benefit from reserving a new build home with as little as a 5% deposit.

Now only available to first time buyers, the Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme is exclusively for use on new build homes. To be eligible, all parties buying the home must not have owned a home or residential land previously and not have had any form of sharia mortgage finance. Future homeowners can use the Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme to reserve a Devonshire Homes property by depositing 5% of the market value. The Government will contribute 20% through an equity loan and customers will secure a mortgage for the remaining 75%.

Homes that qualify for the new Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme are subject to a regional price cap. In the South West, house hunters can reserve a home worth up to £349,000 using the scheme. Devonshire Homes’ Tarka View development currently has a number of high-quality homes available which fall under this price cap, including the three bedroom Copplestone townhouse. By using the Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme, you could reserve a Copplestone house with a deposit of £13,250.

Popular with first time buyers, the Copplestone’s ground floor boasts features which are hard to find in other new build properties. Stepping through the front door, house hunters will be welcomed by a spacious hallway which has room for a bench, shoe store, dog bed and pushchair. The 20 ft long garage with light and power runs the entire length of the house, perfect for transforming into a home gym or workshop, and a separate storage cupboard will ensure the home is kept tidy.

The first floor is the heart of the home, providing plenty of space to relax or entertain in. The open plan kitchen / dining area includes high-quality integrated appliances, a tiled kitchen floor at no extra cost and French doors leading out onto the rear garden. The separate living room features two windows to the front of the property, flooding the room with natural light, making this a truly peaceful space to relax in. Another store cupboard plus a handy cloakroom can also be found on the first floor.

The second floor is where the household will enjoy a restful night’s slumber. Three good-sized bedrooms can be discovered inside the Copplestone house style with the master bedroom boasting a luxury en-suite shower room and fitted wardrobes. A family bathroom and an airing cupboard complete this first time buyer property.

The Copplestone house style is a popular choice amongst house hunters looking to plant roots in Crediton. Ellie and Emilio moved into their Copplestone home in 2019 and are still reaping the benefits today.

Emilio commented: “We love the kitchen diner, that’s a great social area, and in our main master bedroom we enjoy an ample amount of space. If we want to start a family, we don’t have to expand our home as we have plenty of space. Everything is included such as the fridge freezer, shower and en-suite. It’s nice after a long day at work to return to a home that’s ready made for you and we’re so pleased we bought a Copplestone.”

The Copplestone house is priced from £265,000.

Jane Pearce, Joint Acting Managing Director at Devonshire Homes, commented: “Although this version of the Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme has introduced new regional price caps, we still have a beautiful collection of properties that qualify for the scheme at Tarka View, Crediton. The Copplestone townhouse is a beautiful three bedroom home, perfect for first time buyers looking to take that first step onto the property ladder. Enjoy so much more with an extra floor! Contact our Sales Executive today to discuss how the Help to Buy Equity loan scheme can help you reserve your very first home.”

Tarka View is a collection of two, three and four bedroom homes. Devonshire Homes’ Crediton development is served by existing transport routes with excellent local amenities. New pedestrian and cycle paths will be provided, and further improvements are being made to transport links already in place.
