New homes and over £145K of community contributions coming to Wincanton
23 June 2023Independent West Country house builder Devonshire Homes is set to bring new build homes to Wincanton and contribute to the community under its S106 agreements, following the completion of the firm’s purchase of land at Dancing Lane.
Named Dancing Green, the 5.5 acre development will see 31 high-quality new homes built for house hunters, seven of which will be affordable.
Dancing Green will offer a mix of four and five bedroom homes with the affordable homes being two, three and four bedroom homes. Offering homes for all types of buyers, the site also benefits from easy access to the A303, connecting Somerset with Devon and beyond.
As part of its S106 agreements, Devonshire Homes will be making £146,642 contributions to the local community. This will include a £75,993 contribution towards local education, £42,253 towards an equipped play area, £21,173 towards a play pitch and £7,223 towards youth facilities.
Construction on homes at Dancing Green is planned to start in September 2023 with the first occupations expected in spring 2024.
New homes have been carefully designed to blend into the surrounding environment and will offer potential homeowners easy access to local amenities including a sports centre, cafes, pubs, convenience stores and a post office. Wincanton offers schooling for all ages with the nearest secondary school being King Arthur’s School and Wincanton County Primary School for younger children.
Angus Cook, Managing Director at Devonshire Homes, commented:
“We are pleased to announce that we have completed on land at Dancing Lane, and will be delivering much-needed new homes to the community in Wincanton. We know that the development of new homes in the area has stalled in recent years due to issues with phosphates, but the land at Dancing Lane was unaffected by such issues so we can finally bring a small collection of high-quality homes to people who really need them.
“With a mix of two-bedroom to five bedroom homes, Dancing Green will offer beautifully designed and built, energy-efficient, properties for a whole range of house hunters. Construction will soon be underway at the site and any interested parties can register their interest on our website to be the first to know when these homes will be ready to reserve.”
