West Yelland boat in full bloom as Devonshire Homes sponsors planter to mark the start of construction at Sun Houses
11 July 2023Independent West Country housebuilder Devonshire Homes has cut the turf at its new homes site in West Yelland, bringing its much-anticipated homes one step closer to local house hunters.
To mark the occasion, the award-winning developer has sponsored a boat-shaped planter located at the entrance to the Allenstyle area which leads to Devonshire Homes’ new site. The sponsorship has helped the Allenstyle Action Group bring the planter back to life in time for the summer season.
The development, named Sun Houses, will deliver 27 open market and 22 affordable homes, and will complete the residential community which is already in existence.
Located in the desirable village of Yelland, Sun Houses will include three, four and five bedroom bungalows and houses in an elevated position, making the most of their southerly aspect with estuary views and are surrounded by green, wooded hillside.
This architecturally exciting scheme is designed to maximise the use of natural light with large expanses of glazing. The open plan living capitalises on the desirable outlook with living areas and at least one bedroom South facing into a walled garden.
The stylish contemporary homes take on a modern interpretation of the traditional bungalow and are available to reserve now.
Devonshire Homes is investing more than £430,000 in the local community under the S106 contributions, including: £294,225 towards education, £127,291 towards recreation and £10,000 towards play equipment. Benefitting the existing occupied homes in the centre of the site, Devonshire Homes will also resurface the neighbouring roads which adjoin the site.
This is Devonshire Homes’ second live development in North Devon after construction started on its Bideford site, The Grange, in 2022.

For families, there is schooling for all ages with the closest being Fremington Community Primary and Nursery School and The Park Community School.
The first units released for sale are plots 16 and 17 which are four bedroom homes in the ‘Yelland’ house style. These homes are available to reserve now at £539,950. The show home is due to open in September 2023.
