Devonshire Homes Celebrates Grand Opening of New HQ

22 April 2024

Devonshire Homes welcomed the Mayor and Mayoress of Tiverton, Wally and Ann Burke to an official opening ceremony of their new headquarters at Gotham House in Tiverton. The grand opening marks a significant milestone for the company as it continues its journey of growth and expansion.

The ceremonial cutting of the ribbon at the special reception took place in front of the recently restored Grade II listed building, with representatives from Tiverton Civic Society and Mid-Devon District Council and key members of the Devonshire Homes team, stakeholders and local build partners in attendance. The event gave guests an opportunity to look around the new office and hear more about Devonshire Homes’ growth plans.

Situated in the heart of Tiverton on Phoenix Lane, Gotham House is a magnificent 18th Century Georgian townhouse with a rich history dating back centuries. Devonshire Homes' move to Gotham House from their previous office at Lowman Green in December 2023 signifies the company's commitment to its roots in Tiverton and its dedication to providing high-quality homes across the region. The new headquarters offers four floors of impressive office space, with meeting rooms located on the ground floor.

Angus Cook, Managing Director of Devonshire Homes said,

“We’re delighted to officially open our new Headquarters, with our staff, key build partners and members of the local council present to celebrate this proud occasion with us. This move has not only provided us with the additional space we need but also allowed us to remain firmly rooted in Tiverton, a town we've always called home. With the recent launch of our new site at Mariner’s Haven in Ilfracombe, our exchange on land to develop phase 2 at Longston Cross in Bovey Tracey, and our recent success with Cornwall Council granting a resolution to proceed with new homes in Penzance, there’s plenty for us to be celebrating.”

Tiverton Mayor Wally Burke said,

“I am so pleased to be here at this landmark building in the town to officially open the doors on its next exciting chapter with Devonshire Homes. The building has been beautifully restored and given a new lease of life by a local business with roots firmly in Tiverton which is wonderful to see. It is especially fitting for me to be present, considering the house was rebuilt after a catastrophic fire in 1731, by George Davey who was the Mayor of Tiverton during that time.”

Devonshire Homes has been at the forefront of creating new homes and communities in towns and rural areas across the South West since 1992. With the recent launch of its new portfolio of standard house types called the ‘Legacy Collection’, Devonshire Homes is combining aesthetically pleasing designs with energy efficiency, and gaining recognition for its commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

The opening of the new headquarters comes at a time of unprecedented growth for Devonshire Homes, with more active sites than ever before. The company aims to double its turnover and deliver 400 homes per annum within the next five years, further solidifying its position as a leading housebuilder in the West Country.
