Local students design new road safety signs for Mariner’s Haven, Ilfracombe
16 February 2026We are delighted to reveal our brand-new road safety signs at our popular North Devon development, Mariner’s Haven, designed in partnership with Ilfracombe CofE Junior School.
Connecting with the local community, we invited young pupils from the nearby school to create their own road safety signage aimed at reminding drivers to reduce their speed around the development and the school.
We collected the pupils’ fantastic designs and after much deliberation by our judging panel, we selected a shortlist before choosing two winners, Lili (Year 4) and Madi (Year 5). Each winning pupil received a £25 toy shop voucher, and we have also donated £100 towards school supplies as part of our ongoing support for local education and community safety.

Lili and Madi’s engaging designs of a bus slowing down for children and a colourful reminder of how to ‘stop, look, listen, think’ have now been printed and installed at Mariner’s Haven and around the school.
Jane Pearce, Sales and Marketing Director at Devonshire Homes, commented: “We’re delighted to work with Ilfracombe CofE Junior School on this creative and meaningful project which started in Road Safety Week. The pupils’ artwork will help raise awareness of safe speeds in an area used by families every day and we’re proud to see their designs making a real difference.”
Jody Le Bredonchel, Head Teacher at Ilfracombe CofE Junior School, commented: “We are grateful to Devonshire Homes for engaging our pupils in such a positive initiative. The children have really embraced the challenge and are excited to see their work displayed around the school and Mariner’s Haven.”
