3 March 2025Our Yelland site, Sun Houses, is named just that for a reason. Built in a unique architectural style, these modern new homes have been designed to maximise the use of natural light, something that homeowners Andrew and Sarah have experienced first-hand.
The couple were the first residents to move-in at Sun Houses and have now well and truly settled into village life.
“It was quite an impulsive decision to look around Sun Houses” said Sarah. “We were driving past, spotted the sign for Sun Houses and then we took a quick right-hand turn to have a look!”
It was the properties stand-out glazing that really caught Andrew’s eye. “We could see the back of the houses were all glass and we were like wow! We just knew we had to come back and look at the show home once that was complete. Looking around the show home enabled us to see what the quality was like and the natural light which came through the big windows was the selling point for us.”
Once Andrew and Sarah reserved their home at Sun Houses, they were kept up-to-date by the Sales Executives throughout the entire process and experienced a stress-free, straightforward, buying journey.
“Everybody was so helpful right up until move in day” said Sarah. “The team made sure no one was parked outside our home on the day so that we had plenty of space to move everything in.”
“That attention to detail was pretty awesome” added Andrew. “As it was still a working construction site, there were several cars and vans around, but Graham was fantastic and made sure there was plenty of space for us. Nothing was too much trouble. I think there was even someone here at 6:30am making sure that our plot was cornered off!”
The couple couldn’t be happier with their new home at this sought-after development.
“We just keep pinching ourselves every morning when we see the light flood through those windows. We love the architectural features. It’s a very different style of house with the big glass back. How many houses have that? It’s quite unconventional but is very sympathetic to the previous phase of homes that are already here.”
As an engineer, Andrew really appreciated the different features. “The angles, the sloping roof, even down to the heat pump, I like it all” said Andrew.
Homes at Sun Houses have been designed with the environment in mind, all running on air source heat pumps.
“We’ve never had an air source heat pump before” said Andrew. “But it’s great that Devonshire Homes are moving with the times, taking sustainable building into consideration. A lot of modern buildings still haven’t got heat pumps, but Devonshire Homes have taken that step at Sun Houses.”
So, would Andrew and Sarah recommend Devonshire Homes?
“Definitely! The whole team have been fantastic and Sun Houses as a development is lovely to live at.”
