With home working now a permanent fixture for many, house hunters are seeking properties that offer flexible spaces for both work and living. A 2025 Forbes Advisor poll reveals 63% of respondents now work remotely at least some of the time, making a dedicated home office space a top priority for today’s buyers.
Sam, 33, and Adrianne, 30, visited Devonshire Homes’ Bideford site, The Grange, in search of a larger property with space to work from home.
“We were looking to upsize from our previous three bedroom home in Torrington” said Adrianne. “We also wanted a house which offered more room to work from home, which could be separate from our main living areas.”
Working locally in East-the-Water, Adrianne regularly drove past The Grange and decided to see if there was a house design that could suit their needs.
“The Sales Executives listened to our needs and suggested the Hazel which looked perfect” said Adrianne. “The ground floor, which includes a good-sized room and bathroom is perfect to transform into an office whilst keeping your main living areas separate on the first and second floors.”

Convinced the Hazel was the home for them, the couple waited for the next set of Hazels to be released, reserved their plot and moved in July 2025 with their four-year-old spaniel, Bailey.
“My favourite thing about our new home is the amount of house we have” smiled Adrianne. “There is just so much space, more than we’ve ever had before. We absolutely love how light and airy the house feels. My favourite feature would have to be the high ceilings and also the hallway is huge. Bailey loves her new garden!
“The location is great too. It's out of the way in a quiet neighbourhood but still close enough to work, local shops and other amenities. The Grange has a beautiful, modern feel and homes don’t seem too close together either.”
