Gill
28 July 2022There’s something about Devon that keeps people coming back again and again. Perhaps it’s the glistening blue coastline or the Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. For Gill, she wanted to return to her roots. So, when Gill started her house hunting journey, she decided to contact local independent house builder Devonshire Homes.
“I wanted to move back to Devon after being away for 40 years. Devon is where I was born and grew up, so the region has always held a special place in my heart” said Gill. “I wanted to purchase a property in Bovey Tracey as it has easy access to Dartmoor National Park and the coast. Being quite an active person, this was a big draw for me. I was not intending to buy a new build home but when I came across Devonshire Homes’ Bovey Tracey site, Longston Cross, I was keen to find out what they had available. The location and the great reputation of Devonshire Homes convinced me to put down a deposit.”
Gill now lives in a three bedroom Bickleigh house style at Longston Cross with her rescue dog, Scout. The Bickleigh is extremely popular with house hunters as it boasts an open plan kitchen/dining area with French doors leading out onto the rear garden. A separate living room also features French doors, flooding the room with plenty of natural light. Three good-sized bedrooms are upstairs with the master bedroom featuring a luxury en-suite shower room and fitted wardrobes. The amount of space available is what drew Gill to the Bickleigh.
“I was looking for a three bedroom house as I was keen to have a guest bedroom and an extra room which I could turn into a home office” said Gill. “I like how the French doors lead out from the kitchen to the garden. It’s great to be able to throw them open on a warm summer’s day. The garden is beautiful and the perfect size for me and the garage is a handy storage space.”
There are several aspects of her new home that Gill has fallen in love with but being green fingered, she’s particularly taken to the garden.
“I am really enjoying planning and planting the garden. I love the morning sun in the back garden and the evening sun at the front of the house. It is also such a light, bright and airy home which is refreshing.”
Launched in 2019, Longston Cross is Devonshire Homes’ second Bovey Tracey site and is located off Monks Way, just a short walk away from the town’s amenities. Gill is thrilled with the location of her new home.
“It’s positioned on the edge of Bovey Tracey with views to Dartmoor. There’s also easy access to the A38 but Longston Cross is far away enough not to be able to hear the traffic” said Gill. “I’m close enough to the centre of Bovey Tracey which is a lovely town with several shops, restaurants and tearooms and I love its craft heritage. From my door, I can enjoy a walk through the National Trust’s Parke estate and along the Templar Way.”
Devonshire Homes is known for its excellent customer service. In 2021, 100% of customers surveyed said they would recommend Devonshire Homes and Gill can certainly see why.
“Sales Executives Susie and Yve were so helpful and supportive throughout the entire process. From helping me choose my home when it was just a slab of concrete to keeping me updated throughout the build process, they were there every step of the way” said Gill.
“I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Devonshire Homes to other house hunters. Their homes are built to a high-quality standard and support is offered throughout the entire buying process.”
Longston Cross currently has three and five bedroom homes for sale starting from £324,950. Visits to the show home and Marketing Suite are by appointment only. To book, please call 01626 572257 or email longstoncross@devonshirehomes.co.uk.
