Children’s Hospice South West boosted by support from Devonshire Homes

20 April 2017

Leading independent West Country house builder, Devonshire Homes, has selected Children’s Hospice South West to be their charity partner for the next year and set its sights on raising over £10,000 to support the charity.

Devonshire Homes has announced a busy programme of charity activities to raise vital funds for the charity which provides hospice care for children with life-limiting conditions and support for their families across the South West.

Devonshire Homes which is based in Tiverton and has new homes sites in Cullompton, Bovey Tracey, Chulmleigh, and coming soon in Crediton and Landkey, will raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West through a number of events and collections at their head office and developments across the region.

The housebuilder will donate £50 to the charity for every open-market sale during the year and Devonshire Homes’ staff will also show their support with a variety of events including sponsored sky dives, cycle challenges, runs, coffee mornings as well as office bake sales.

Children’s Hospice South West supports and cares for both children and families providing respite and short breaks, emergency care, palliative care and end of life care. Its work ensures that children who will not reach adulthood, have access to a safe, happy and relaxing space that allows them to get all the help and support they need. The charity provides three hospices across the South West which feature child friendly bedrooms with minimal medical equipment that are decorated with books, toys and DVD’s for each child who stays. This vital support extends to the whole family, into bereavement and beyond for as long as the family needs.

Devonshire Homes has already started fundraising and held a plant auction at their Westaway Reach development in Barnstaple. With sales of new homes now completed at the popular site, residents were invited to bid on the plants surrounding the sales area and car park, with a silent auction which raised more than £260 for the charity.

Sales and Marketing Director, Jane Pearce, commented:

“We’re delighted to announce Children’s Hospice South West as our chosen charity of the year and we are planning to raise a considerable amount of money for this very worthy charity in the coming months.
“We have five developments across Devon and this provides us with plenty of locations to host fundraising activities for the charity and help profile the vital support they provide in the region.”

Naomi Dymond, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser, commented:

“We are thrilled to have been chosen as Devonshire Homes’ new Charity of the Year and can’t wait to get started! We rely almost entirely on the support of the community to keep our services running so without the Devonshire Homes team and the fundraising they are doing, we simply couldn’t continue to be there for the children and families who need us the most. Thank you so much, from us all!”
