Devonshire Homes strengthens commitment to health, safety and environment with new role

19 February 2025

At Devonshire Homes, we are always looking for opportunities to grow our team and strengthen our commitment to excellence. A key part of our vision is not only to build high-quality homes but to create a safe, healthy, and sustainable working environment for our employees, subcontractors, and customers. With that in mind, we are excited to welcome Kelly Penna as our new Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager, a brand-new role for the company that highlights our proactive approach to workplace well-being.

Prioritising health and safety beyond the minimum standards

Health and safety have always been a top priority for Devonshire Homes, but we believe in going beyond industry requirements to create an environment where our team can thrive. The introduction of the Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager role is proof of our ongoing efforts to ensure best practices across all aspects of our operations.

Since joining the team, Kelly has played a key role in the implementation and roll-out of our new Health and Safety Policy. Her expertise and dedication to building a positive safety culture have already made a significant impact.

“My role is not limited to one department,” Kelly explains. “I help all departments operate as they should to ensure the health and safety of our employees, subcontractors, customers, and members of the public at all times.”

Changing the perception of health and safety

One of Kelly’s key objectives is to challenge the common belief that health and safety measures are merely an extra burden on time and resources. Instead, she promotes a forward-thinking approach, where well-being is seen as an investment in people and productivity.

“There’s a lot of stigma around health and safety, mainly that it costs time and money, but I want to help change that,” says Kelly. “I want to help everyone understand that by being healthier, both mentally and physically, they can have a more fulfilling career doing the work they love.”

By embedding a culture of health and safety into everything we do, we aim to give our teams the confidence to work effectively, knowing they are supported by strong systems and a leadership team that genuinely cares about their well-being.
