Many house hunters visiting our Marketing Suites are searching for a home that is low maintenance, energy efficient and ready to enjoy from day one – somewhere that doesn’t require lots of ongoing work or come with high energy bills.

After years spent improving and renovating previous homes, Ken and Jenni came to Devonshire Homes’ Dancing Green in Wincanton looking for a manageable home that was close to family.

Now retired, Ken and Jenni wanted to downsize but were still keen to enjoy plenty of space where they could host family and friends.

“We were already local to the area but wanted to move from our six-bedroom home, which came with a 1/3 acre and lots of high hedges to maintain,” said Ken. “Our new home at Dancing Green is much more manageable for us, but it still has a good sized garden and plenty of space for visits from our five children and their families.”

Conveniently located close to the A303, the development offered the ideal base to stay in the area they know and have come to love. “We already lived relatively locally but we wanted to move to Wincanton as it’s within easy reach of our children,” said Jenni.

“We wanted a new home where we could relax, without taking on more renovation projects, as we have spent many years improving our previous homes. Dancing Green offered us everything we were looking for at a reasonable price. The development isn’t too big with only 31 homes, and we are surrounded by countryside for walking and exploring with our dog.”

The retired couple chose our four bedroom Martock house style, a popular option for those looking to ‘rightsize’. The ground floor includes an open plan kitchen / dining area with two sets of double doors leading out onto the garden. A separate living room, cloakroom and storage cupboard completes the ground floor layout. Upstairs, all four bedrooms are generously sized, with the master bedroom benefitting from a luxury en-suite.

“We love our new home,” said Ken. “The best aspects for us are the excellent insulation and low energy costs, plus the light and airy open plan kitchen / diner. It’s a small development with plenty of space for cars, providing easy access to the local amenities Wincanton has to offer and beyond. We’re not too close to the town, but not far either, and we feel close to the countryside too. The air is very fresh here on the hill!”

Ken and Jenni were also impressed by the customer service they received from Devonshire Homes, describing the moving process as smooth and straightforward.
