The Latest Interior Design Trends in 2018 with Jane Clayton

2 July 2018

Moving into a new home can be an exciting time and many of our home owners cannot wait to get the keys and start decorating. We are always inundated with compliments on the interior design of our beautiful Mazzard View and Tarka View show homes, created by Devonshire Homes’ interior designer, Jane Clayton & Company. Looking to re-create that trendy show home look in your own property? Sarah Coward, Design Project Manager at Jane Clayton & Company, reveals the interior design trends in 2018:

“Spring and Summer 2018 is filled with botanical, tropical and bright, leafy prints in fabrics, wallpapers and accessories. Colours trending right now are shades of forest and emerald greens, mustard yellows, deep blues and grey. We have been using a lot of bold statement wallpapers in our schemes so far this season and use accessories in the same colours to lift and emphasise the prints.”

At Devonshire Homes, we love botanical themes that are so popular with interior design trends in 2018. If you visit our new show home at our Landkey site, Mazzard View, you’ll see some colourful botanical prints dotted around the house.

Geometric patterns are still going strong and feature prominently in many contemporary styled homes across the country.

“Geometrics are still very current” said Sarah. “We are seeing them in more summery and pastel shades such as blush-pink, mint green and pale yellow as well as the monochrome prints from last year. Materials and furniture have taken a more industrial direction and include chromes, mixed metals and wood.”

So where should you start when it comes to decorating your new home and impressing your guests by being bang on trend?

“For anyone who is keen to stay up-to-date on interior design trends in 2018, we recommend investing in neutral, adaptable furniture as a backdrop and introducing the trend through accessories, styling and prints such as cushions, rugs and artwork” said Sarah. “For new home owners this season, bringing the outside in with botanical influences and bright accessories will certainly help to create a homely feel that’s on trend, without the commitment of dramatic changes to the interior.”

Follow these tips and you’re sure to wow your guests with your new Devonshire home. Jane Clayton & Company designed the show homes at Mazzard View, Landkey, and Tarka View, Crediton, so why not take a look around?
