4 September 2019After deciding to move to Devon to be closer to their family, Gillian Southall and Brian Hoskin began their search for a beautiful property in the countryside. Now in their seventies, the couple were looking for a new home that was low maintenance with good local amenities. Spotting a Devonshire Homes sign one afternoon, Gillian and Brian soon found themselves inside the Ladywell Meadows Marketing Suite within the picturesque town of Chulmleigh.
“Brian and I moved to Devon in November 2017 to live nearer to my daughter” said Gillian. “Originally, we were looking at older properties, but we started to experience a few hiccups. After spotting the sign for Ladywell Meadows one day, we popped in to see Margaret, the Sales Executive.”
Interested in Devonshire Homes’ popular four bedroom Morris house style, the couple travelled to the house builder’s nearby Landkey site, Mazzard View. Here, Gillian and Brian wandered around the show home, which was also a Morris.
“Within minutes of walking into the Morris show home, we knew it was the home for us” said Gillian. “We just looked at each other and knew it was what we had been looking for all along.”
The local independent house builder’s four bedroom Morris house style is popular with customers across the region. Natural light floods the home, particularly through the large bay window in the living room. Gillian and Brian moved into their beautiful Morris home at Ladywell Meadows in August 2018.
“We bought the four bedroom Morris because it was a beautiful design that met all of our requirements” said Gillian. “A double garage is key for us, which this property has, and we liked the open plan kitchen / dining area. All of the bedrooms are of a generous size and our home has lovely finishing touches, such as high-quality tiles. The great thing about purchasing a new build home is that it’s low maintenance. We have always bought older properties that we have had to invest some time and effort into, but we didn’t want to do that anymore as we are in our seventies. We have been impressed by the standard of workmanship and if we had any problems, Devonshire Homes would always quickly resolve them.”
